I figured this out. It turns out that it's just the fact that the program is .NET 3.5, and dotTrace can't handle .NET 3.5.Jet Brains - any update on when you might support .NET 3.5? It's been out...

oops - I take that back - it seems OK with .NET 3.5.The issue was that if you rename a thread in your application to have a null name, then the profiler crashes.
