dotMemory profile graph is lagging!

I'm trying to use dotMemory to profile my web app, but the profiler graph just freezes, and I need to constantly hover and move the mouse over the graph to get it moving.

Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz   3.60 GHz

Ram: 32 GB

OS: Windows 10 64bit

I've tried re-installing multiple times and reverting to older versions as well.



Could you please do these steps and send us log files:

  • Clear %temp%\JetLogs folder.
  • Go to dotMemory installation folder: %localappdata%\JetBrains\Installations\dotMemory[N]
  • Using Windows command-line start dotMemory with arguments: dotMemory.UI.64.exe /LogLevel=Trace
  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F11
  • Check "Enable logs"
  • Enter 10493411401991 in "Core logs mask" or check Com, Bridge, Api, MetaDataGt, ClassGt, FieldResolverGt, ClassRecoveryGt, AppDomainRecoveryGt, ThreadRecoveryGt, MemoryDumpGt, MemoryAllocationGt, GcCb, GcAllocationsCb, ModuleCb, ClassCb, AppDomainCb, AssemblyCb checkboxes
  • Click "Save"
  • Reproduce your scenario
  • Wait for the timeline to hang for ~2 minutes
  • Close dotMemory
  • Send us all log files from %Temp%\JetLogs folder

We ran into the same problem on one of our machines. This machine had an integrated video card and the problem went away after updating Intel display driver.
Could you try updating similar drivers on your computer and installing all the latest OS updates? Is the timeline rendered correctly after that?
Also, please provide information about your video card and processor. What version of the display driver is installed on your computer after the update?
