.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.5448 - Failed to CoCreate profiler.

Hi,

I am using API's of dotTrace 3.1 version in Windows 7, 64-bit version. When I start the application I get the error ".NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.5448 - Failed to CoCreate profiler" in windows event viewer (no exception in code) and profiling stops immediately. This is happening randomly meaning few times it succeeds and mostly it fails. But the same piece of code works very well in Windows XP.

Anyone knows why this error occurs and how to fix this?

Thanks,

Pradeep

Hi! It seems to me that my e-mail wasn't delivered - sorry!
1. please disable the firewall and try profiling again;
2. check whether you have this update (both x64 and x86 versions!) installed; if not, please install it;
3. what kind of application are you profiling?
4. when was your 3.1 license purchased? If after December 17, 2008, you can upgrade to dotTrace Performance 4.x and dotTrace Memory 3.5 for free.

Asia Rudenko Thanks for your reply. And sorry for my late reply

I have tried installing the Update it didn't work. I am trying to profile a Winforms application. Only one particular machine has this problem, there is one more system which looks fine with same setup.

Also will the same code will work in dotTrace Performance 4.x ?

Hi Pradeb,

This error happens when CLR can't create profiler COM object. Probably you get it when start IIS profiling or Windows Service profiling. This bug already fixed in dotTrace 4.5 and later.
